Using Custom Emojis in Discord Pronouns

Can You Use Custom Emojis in Discord Pronouns?

Short answer: no. Discord does not natively allow custom emojis in the dedicated Pronouns field. That area is designed for plain text only.

Why Custom Emojis Don't Work in Pronouns

  • The Pronouns field only accepts standard Unicode characters and plain text.
  • Custom emoji codes (like <:name:id>) are stripped or rendered as plain text.
  • This limitation applies to both the desktop and mobile Discord apps.

Alternatives

  • Use standard Unicode emojis (😀, 🎉, 🌈, etc.) alongside your pronouns — these work perfectly.
  • Place custom emojis in your About Me section instead (requires Nitro for custom emojis).
  • Update your profile status with custom emojis to show personality (also requires Nitro for custom emojis).
